Throughout Your Caregiving Years

Quick Tip

Simplify…

…Purchase a large wall calendar that shows your life: Doctor's appointments, social engagements, meal plans, work schedules, children's activities, other family members' care responsibilities. Display the calendar in your kitchen, near your phone, so you can refer to it and add to it. Replicate the wall calendar in a calendar you carry in your purse or briefcase.

…Find a place for everything: Paperwork, caregiving supplies, devices and gadgets, recipes, photos, mail, books, medications. Use baskets and containers for easy-access storage.

…Keep your appointments--with your doctor, your dentist, your friends, your children. Renew your driver's license on time, keep your car in good shape, perform simple maintenance in your house to keep it humming, pay your bills on time.

…Keep your To Do list handy--so you can cross off accomplished tasks and easily add new ones.

…When preparing meals, make extra servings which can be frozen and re-heated in a pinch.
